REBEL

“What happened?” Cason’s mom was asking Ingrid as she packed the girls up to leave.

“To be honest, I don’t know. We made up, as I’m sure you all know. He went to talk to Selina, we came in and one of his cousins said there was someone looking for him. I went to the bathroom and when I opened the front door, no one was out there with him. He was leaning on the side with a few tears coming down his face. I asked was he ok and he snapped. I love Cason but there’s absolutely no way, I can be around him like that. I swear, Roger is all I saw when he shouted in my face.” She sat on the bed and broke down crying.

“I wonder who was outside.”

“So do I. I’ll be back.” His mom closed the door and Ingrid rested her head on my shoulder.

“Am I stupid for making up with him?”

“Ingrid, no man is perfect and what you do is your business.”

“I know but what if it happens again?”

“Again, your business is yours. My mom always says, only you will know when you had enough. Don’t let outsiders dictate what you should accept because most of them accepted a lot more. Listen.” She looked at me.

“I’m not excusing him snapping on you but whoever came to that door pissed him off bad. Unfortunately, you felt the wrath of it because you found him. I doubt he meant to take it out on you especially; knowing what you’ve been through. When he calms down, I bet he begs for your forgiveness. I’m not saying to give it to him but I will say listen to whatever it is and base your choice off that. Shit, for all we know Odessa could’ve been out there and told him she had AIDS.”

“REBEL!”

“What? You never know with these broke bitches. Look at Selina. She swears somebody wants Syeed.”

“Do you?”

“HELL NO! And even if I did, it would only be to get back at her.”

“You never told me why you wouldn’t take him back. You said people accept what they want.”

“Ingrid, I could get past the cheating if it were one time. This nigga fucked her more than once and then got her pregnant. I can tolerate a lot but a baby? I’m good.”

“Yea if Cason had a baby on me I’d definitely leave.”

“That nigga ain’t having no kids by anyone else. The way you two were moaning all loud and shit, I’d say y’all strung out.”

“You heard us?” She covered her mouth.

“Mostly you but I heard him right before I knocked.”

“We definitely have great sex.” She picked Miracle up and opened the door. Kiyah and Tiffany were running down the hallway.

“Kiyah are you staying with your grandmother?”

“Yes.” She hugged Ingrid. I went down the steps and walked her outside.

“You ready?” He put his arms on my belly.

“Ready for some dick.”

“And trust, it’s ready for you.”
